California has mandated that insurance companies now Fund ABA services. To receive ABA coverage, you must first understand what type of insurance you have.
Fully Funded Plans
Fully funded plans include premiums which are paid by the employer or employee and are mandated by CA to provide ABA coverage. As a result, your insurance company will pay the cost.
Self-Funded or a Federally Funded Plans
These plans are typically employer operated and therefore do not have to comply with State mandates. Funding of ABA services are not required, so we will work with your local Regional Center to provide coverage for your ABA services.
HMOs and PPOs
These plans are not required to follow state mandates and therefore it is up to the employer if they will cover ABA services. If they do not, we will work with your local Regional Center to obtain coverage.
